    DASH

I'm for abolishment of the Constitutional State Treasurer's office. Save Kentucky taxpayers millions annually... However, even more urgent,I'm for abolishment of 70-out-of-120 statutory offices of PVA [Property Valuation Administrator]. 1995 Task Force;---i.e., Commission On Quality & Efficiency---recommended such in 1995! Yet General Assembly has not done so. it being close to 2008 would be a great time to legislate abolishment of 70 PVA offices significantly reducing state exepenses! Annual savings to taxpayers would be around $50 million dollars!

    Brilliant!!!!!!

By far the best bill up for debate. Wish the lady who ran on this platform had succeeded. A big waste of public funds is the treasurers office

    Taxpayer savings?

I'm not sure abolishing the office of treasurer would be all that big of a savings. Better yet, consolidate a lot of Kentucky's smaller counties who can't pay for their own elected officials. Quit using Jefferson County's tax contributions to continue funding these political hacks, hayseeds and courthouse cronies to do a job their locals can't afford. If the General Assembly is really all that interested in saving money, it has no other place to look than at the 14,000 or so non-violent, substance users it has incarcerated. That costs $269 million a year. Pardon those people, get them out of jail, and use the $269 million to fix Kentucky's public employees retirement system debacle.

    no consolidation

I disagree with consolidating counties. I like having smaller units of government so that if oone county acts stupid I can move to another adjacent county and not even have to change employment.

    Savings

Screwing with the constitution? I predict you will see the people like it the way it is and the Treasurers job will be saved. If you hacks want to save money let some committee of normal small business owners look over your bloated budget and make some cuts. It just might make you all look inept.

More offices should be non partisan

I am not sure I agree with turning the treasury duties over to non elected private parties. The problem is that I totally agree with making a lot of offices non- partisan and auditor and AG is on the top of the list. Every County and Commonwealth attorney should be thrown in and really do you honestly care if your County Coroner is a DEM or REB. There are several offices that have nothing to do with policy and more to do with the operation of our state and counties and have no reason to be caught up in the partisan politics that are part of our state. We just need to make sure the person doing them is competent and qualified--Who cares what party they are....
