Re: 2009 House Bill 48 (Domestic violence protective orders extended to dating partners)

Call this what it is. The Scorned Woman Retribution Act. There is a reason the original DVO bill limited to cohabitating partners, married couples, or people with children. It gives structure to people who live together, and cannot easily get separate home do to financial reasons, or the help people who cannot totally get away from their partner because the must deal with child custody issues.

If we extend this to dating partners, when does it end? Could a person end up with a DVO against them for a year after one bad date? Or after dumping a person? File criminal charges if you are having trouble with an ex-boyfriend. But don't have the family courts open their doors to disgruntled dating partners. This is dumb, dumb, dumb.
