    drug law

here you go again, trying to make drug law out of housing law. Requiring urinalysis to stay in exclude people from public assistance. Wher do you suppose these people will go for food and shelter if we deny them? Do you want them camping out at your house, stealing your stuff to survive? This is a law designed to punish people for the illness of drug addiction.

    Including cannabis?

Cannabis foods, beverages, fragrances, body cremes, lotions, salves and balms all contain trace amounts of THC. So, if someone drinks a glass of cannabis milk or rubs some cannabis-based pain relieving salve on a sore joint or muscle, the THC metabolites will show up in a urine test. Is that person going to be denied assistance? What kind of nonsense is it to call this kind of use abuse? Get real! Even though THC is listed as a schedule I substance, it is not a drug, never has been and never will be. We have a delusional legislative body that wants the public to believe otherwise. This is just some more negative nanny legislation that wages war against American values. How does this promote the happiness of the people? And don't even go there with that nonsense that it makes the rest of us safer or that we're winning the war on drugs. It's a punitive piece of legislation that needs to be trashed.

    About time

The only people that will be against tHouse bill 190( are drug users and drug suppliers. The majority of the population are subject to drug testing or they will not be employed. I am tired of working 60 - 80 hrs. per week to put my kids trough college(I make to much money for any assistance).Yet we allow drug addicts to receive MY hard working dollar to fulfill their addiction. Why hasn't this bill been passed already??

    Finally!

If we are going to continue to support these entitlement programs, it is entirely fair for the government and tax payers who are funding them to place certain requirements, including drug testing. At what point do we require some accountability from these people? The hard working tax payers of KY often times have to submit to these tests and other requirements to work are sick and tired of paying for these people to squander and waste OUR hard earned tax dollars. Shame on the commitee chair for holding this up. If nothing else, put it on the ballet and let the voting public who support these programs decide how its spent.

    Thank Goodness!!!

It's about time we have something to wake people up with. Hard working TAX payers are tired of supporting people that choose to take drugs and USE the system. I have seen first hand people abusing the system and Im tired of it. If I should go tomorrow to look for a job I will have to take and PASS a drug test and while working with this job will be given ramdom drug testing. So Why is it fair for the working people to have to do this when they don't take drugs and want to work and not fair to the ones that don't want to work that DO take drug's? I'm sure that the people that are not using the system or Using drugs wont mind the drug tests. I don't take drugs nor will I. For the most part people make their own chooses in life and to take drugs and call it unfair to be giving a drug test in totally insain. Im all for the 190 bill and Im telling everyone I can about this EVERYDAY. We as working people need to be able to have some say to what happens to OUR money.

    Drug testing welfare recipients

Lets get the facts separated from the myths. First, drug testing people because they are poor and you believe that they arrived in this situation because they use drugs is an act of discrimination. Did anyone ever think that maybe we are experiencing a recession, lack of jobs, lack of skills and an inaccessible educational system due to povery or low income, which all cause depression, mental health issues, low self esteem and a sense of hoplessness. All of which lead to substance abuse and alcoholism, which also puts us in another dilemma, how are we going to determine who is suffering from alcoholism and are we going to kick them off the welfare roles. Alcoholsim is one of the leading causes of job loss. The fact is most people who are employed are using and work to continue their habit. Second, the cost of implementing such a bill will be extremely expensive and it would be unconstitional to deny them benefits without providing them with treatment. The fact is we don't have enough trained professional or facilities to addres this problem. So, perhaps we should invest in this arena before investing in drug tests and making corporations benefit from our tax money. We should make our tax money benefit our people!! Did you ever question who are the stakeholders in this bill and who will benefit and who will lose. Also, if someone decides that the drug test was a false positive, who is going to pay for due process under the fourteenth amendment. Yes, we all have a right to a lawyer and representation.

    p.s. drug testing

Drug testing is not the way to catch people. Prescriptions pills can be eliminated from the body in 2-4 days. Other drugs may take a week. One test a year and a good excuse and they will come up clean, which results in a waste of time and money. Also, the federal government did not set aside money to pay for this, they only put it in the TANF bill. Our state will have to foot the bill.

    drug tests

You need to check it this issue out. The majority of the population do not take drug test. Only those who CHOOSE to work in high security and saftey positions drug test. As a matter of fact the supreme court ruled widespread mandatory drug testing unconsitutional. Our teachers do not drug test, our legislators do not drug test and I could go on and on...NOTICE I EMPHASIZED CHOICE!! There many issues associated with this bill and it could result in law suits (invasion of privacy, confidentiality, due process, search and seizure without prior suspiciion) Maybe you should check out your civil liberties and learn them!
