I'm not sure abolishing the office of treasurer would be all that big of a savings.
Better yet, consolidate a lot of Kentucky's smaller counties who can't pay for their own elected officials.
Quit using Jefferson County's tax contributions to continue funding these political hacks, hayseeds and courthouse cronies to do a job their locals can't afford.
If the General Assembly is really all that interested in saving money, it has no other place to look than at the 14,000 or so non-violent, substance users it has incarcerated. That costs $269 million a year.
Pardon those people, get them out of jail, and use the $269 million to fix Kentucky's public employees retirement system debacle.
