Introduced by Rep. Kathy W Stein on March 3, 2008. New Comment

1) HB 715 [by Anonymous Citizen on April 29, 2008]
This was clearly a bad bill, and the sponsor did the right thing when she withdrew the legislation from consideration March 5th.

All bills that were not passed in the 2008 Session of the Kentucky General Asembly died at the end of April 15th, when the Session ended. They are no longer under consideration. New bills will be filed when the 2009 Session Session starts next January

If Rep. Stein believed in this bill she would have not pulled it after 2 days. The fact is that she without integrity. Shame on you Mrs. Stein! Go home.

4) Stein has no integrity [by Raffica on April 16, 2008]
Charleton, Stein has no integrity BECAUSE she entered the bill in the first place. Her stance against the right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by both the US and the Kentucky constitutions is well documented. Bills like this rediculous mircrostamping bill prove her disdain for America's 75 million gun owners and the core civil liberty that binds them together.

7) I'm Against This Bill [by Joe F on March 6, 2008]
Ms. Stein sounds more like an east coast liberal than from KY. I wrote my Rep as soon as I saw this bill giving him my opinion and he said it was crazy and he would vote against it. I'm not totally against it but I see it as another form of gun control and what about the bullets sold around the world, it doesn't stop people from bringing bullets from anywhere else in the world. It would make the price of each bullet go up, I'm against it.

I hope these legislators realize the voting public is seeing the continued wasting of OUR tax dollars "copying" this nonsense legislation from around the country. Instead of new laws, try enforcing existing laws. I will never vote for anyone who attempts to infringe on ANY of my god given RIGHTS!

10) Win one for honest folks. [by Anonymous Citizen on March 6, 2008]
This bill was withdrawn after only two days. Just goes to show that we need to watch our elected officials carefully and speak up when they show a lack of judgment. I can only imagine the lobby groups that recommended introducing such a dumb bill to Ms. Stein, but kudos to her for correcting the error so quickly and letting the legislature focus on issues that may actually benefit the state.

12) How does this protect you? [by Anonymous Citizen on March 6, 2008]
This is nothing more than an attempt at back door gun legislation. It would do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to "protect you". Why don't they quit trying to STOMP on my rights and try enforcing laws that already exist.

13) This bill wound not "protect us" [by Raffica on March 6, 2008]
This bill was about bankrupting the shooting sports and making shooting cost-prohibitive. I was also about registration of owners (which always leads to eventual confiscation).

This bill failed because enough Kentuckians called out the idiot and anti-2nd Amendment activist that sponsored the bill originally.

14) Dumb question [by Anonymous Citizen on March 6, 2008]
Gun laws don't have any affect on crime. All they do is make it more expensive, or more difficult for honest people to own and use guns. Every country in the world that has placed restrictions private use of firearms have seen an increase in crime because criminals know they have less of a chance of being shot when they mug somebody or break into a home. If you don't want to own a gun, that is fine. But your home is safer because the criminals don't know which homes have guns and which homes do not.

If the government could find an effective way to keep guns out of the hands of criminals, I would be all for it. But passing laws that only law-abiding people will follow would cause more harm to the public than good.

Don't you get it yet, the legal gun owners aren't the ones committing crimes. The idiots shooting people aren't going to buy serial number bullets, they will buy from the black market..duhhhh?!^#&@
crimes don't produced the registered guns, when will you idiots learn, you are only punishing the law abiding citizens.... do your homework stein or get out of office

GREAT GREAT IDEA ,NEED MORE LIKE THIS.This legisation is not in any way talking about taking away anyones guns or firearms. It only purpose is to put a id serial number on firearms bullets , that could help police / law enforcement id and track gun crimes.

17) YIKES [by Anonymous Citizen on April 2, 2008]
It amazes me how stupid some people are.

Real life statistics show that in EVERY venue where gun carry laws were passed, crime went down.

The bad guys will simply buy bullets on the Black market and nothing will change except it will cost law abiding citizens more to buy ammunition for them to shoot with.

People like this is why this country is failing. Take away the citizens rights, that will solve everything. They just don't understand this is the start for the banning of guns.

19) Wrong, this is a horrible idea [by Anonymous Citizen on March 6, 2008]
This bill does not aid law enforcement in solving crime (just look at the stats from Maryland and California).

This bill is about bankrupting the shooting sports and recreational shooting. This bill is about registration of owners (which is about eventual confiscation). This bill is about making the purchasing and use of ammo cost-prohibitive to regular shooters such as myself (I shoot at least 4,000-4,500 rounds per year). This bill is about stopping the hobby of ammo reloading. This bill is about technology, that in short, does not work anyway.

20) Making a hollow point [by ericc4 on March 4, 2008]
New York and Maryland already have a similar system in place. All firearms owned in those states have to have a fired casing on file with the state. This is supposed to make it easier for the police to track and prosecute gun crime. Anyone want to guess how many crimes have been solved with these laws?
This is nothing more than a veiled attempt to legislate the shooting sports out of existence by forcing ammunition prices out of range.
It also makes self defense too expensive for the poor. If they cannot afford ammunition, how can they defend their children from attack? Won't somebody think of the children?!?

21) Illegal immigrants need serial numbers! [by Anonymous Citizen on March 4, 2008]
Ms. Stein, We want serial numbers put on illegal immigrants draining our tax dollars. Legal, Voting, Taxpaying Citizens have made their voices heard loud and clear. Kentuckians are concerned with illegal immigration and education. Did Beshear call you in for another closed door meeting and demand this bill be put on the table too? Legislatures make better puppets than Jim Hansen ever thought of.

I hope this bill and legisation will pass, there nothing wrong with serial numbers i.d.'s on firearms bullets, this could help law enforcement in dealing with guns crimes in kentucky.

24) Crazy [by Anonymous Citizen on March 5, 2008]
This is just the first step to disarming the population. You know how well that worked in England. They have had a civil war going on in Ireland for 2 generations, but of course they don't have guns...........

Feel good legislation that won't solve any crime, but it will make homes safer for burglars to rob once honest citizens can no longer defend themselves.
