2006 House Bill 36 (Allow display of Ten Commandments on Capitol grounds)

  • Introduced in the House on January 3, 2006, to direct the Department for Facilities and Support Services in the Finance and Administration Cabinet to consider additional historical markers that could be displayed in the Capitol or on the Capitol grounds in order to further recognize important people, ideals, or events in the history of Kentucky. The bill would require the cabinet to locate a monument displaying the Ten Commandments on the Capitol grounds in accordance with legal precedents if such a monument is donated to the state.

Those who don't follow the ten commandments won't be affected by reading them in Frankfort; those who have already read them know what they say.
The text of these commandments is unique to Christianity; if they are posted other spiritual groups' rules for living must also be posted.
